Saudi's Aramco keen to build oil refinery in Bangladesh
Saudi Arabia's state-owned oil giant 'Aramco' has expressed its interest in building an oil refinery in Bangladesh to produce petroleum products for both domestic use and regional markets. The announcement was made by Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh, Essa Youssef Essa Al Duhailan, on January 5.
'Aramco, the world’s largest oil company, is eager to establish a refinery in Bangladesh,' stated the ambassador, emphasizing the potential benefits such a project could bring to the Bay of Bengal region.
The announcement was made during the launch event for the report titled 'Enhancing Saudi-Bangladesh Economic Engagement: Trends, Key Challenges & Long-term Growth Prospects,' organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at its auditorium.
The ceremony featured Finance and Science and Technology Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed as the chief guest, with Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain attending as the special guest. The event was chaired by Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin.
The establishment of an Aramco-led refinery is seen as a significant step in strengthening economic ties between Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh, paving the way for enhanced collaboration in the energy sector and beyond.
